15m agoContreras went 3-for-5 with a solo homer, a double and two runs scored in Monday's loss at Colorado.
The 26-year-old drew the start at designated hitter and reached double-digit homers for the third consecutive season with a solo shot off Austin Gomber. Brenton Doyle COL CF
Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Monster performance in win
26m agoDoyle went 3-for-4 with a homer, a steal, three RBI and three runs scored in Monday's 8-7 win over the Brewers.
The Colorado centerfielder opened the game's scoring when he blasted a mammoth 445-foot, two-run homer off Bryse Wilson in the second. Doyle added his 20th stolen base of the season when he nabbed second in the fourth inning. After a rough .203 batting average in his rookie year, the 26-year-old sophomore has become a steady producer in 2024, now hitting .260 with nine homers, 48 runs scored and 30 RBI.
-
Landen Roupp SF RP
Giants' Landen Roupp: Sent to Triple-A
31m agoRoupp was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, per MLB's transaction log.
Roupp was hit hard for three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out two over 2.2 innings Sunday against the Dodgers, and his performance has resulted in a demotion. The club has yet to make a corresponding move.
-
Bryse Wilson MIL RP
Brewers' Bryse Wilson: Yields five runs in bulk role
35m agoWilson did not factor into the decision in Monday's 8-7 loss to the Rockies, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out three.
After pitching to a 5.19 ERA across 26 innings in June, Wilson continued his run of poor performance in Coors Field. The Milwaukee right-hander allowed five or more runs for the third time in his last five appearances. He now sports a 4.27 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 62:28 K:BB over 78 innings this season. Things aren't going to get easier for Wilson, as he's currently scheduled to make his next outing versus the Dodgers in Los Angeles. It is currently unknown whether he will follow an opener again.

Austin Gomber COL SP
Rockies' Austin Gomber: Surrenders four runs
37m agoGomber did not factor into the decision in Monday's 8-7 win over Milwaukee, allowing four runs on nine hits and no walks over six innings. He struck out three.
The Colorado southpaw faced only 10 batters over three scoreless innings to open this outing before falling apart in a five-hit, three-run fourth. Gomber has now allowed four or more runs in five consecutive starts, churning out an unpleasant 8.65 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB across 26 innings. Overall, the 30-year-old sports a 4.72 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 59:24 K:BB in 87.2 innings. He is tentatively scheduled to make his next start against the Royals at home.

J.D. Martinez NYM DH
Mets' J.D. Martinez: Slugs go-ahead homer in extras
1h agoMartinez went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer and two walks in Monday's 9-7 win against the Nationals.
The New York designated hitter blasted a titanic 420-foot homer off Hunter Harvey in the 10th inning to break the tie. The round tripper was a welcome sight for Martinez, as he entered this contest on a bit of a cold spell, slashing .211/.333/.342 across 47 plate appearances in his previous 10 games with just one homer. The veteran power hitter now sports a .278 with 10 home runs, 37 RBI and 22 runs scored in 209 at-bats overall.

Tyler Stephenson CIN C
Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Transferred to emergency list
7h agoThe Reds transferred Stephenson (personal) from the paternity list to the family medical emergency list Monday.
Stephenson had been away for the last three games while on the paternity list. By rule, players can miss 3-to-7 days while on the family medical emergency list, whereas he would have to be activated ahead of Tuesday's game against the Yankees had he remained on the paternity list. Luke Maile and Austin Wynns will handle catching duties for Cincinnati while Stephenson is away.
-
Alejandro Kirk TOR C
Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Getting start Monday sans Jansen
13h agoKirk will start at catcher and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Astros.
Kirk should be in store for at least two starts in the four-game series with the Astros while top backstop Danny Jansen likely misses the maximum three games after being placed on the paternity list Monday. Even though Jansen remains atop the depth chart, Kirk had been making a case for more playing time by going 4-for-12 with two doubles, two RBI and a run over his last three starts.
-
Henry Davis PIT C
Pirates' Henry Davis: Rehab assignment put on pause
13h agoDavis had his rehab assignment with Double-A Altoona put on hold over the weekend after he experienced recurring concussion symptoms, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.
Initially placed on the 7-day injured list June 15 after experiencing concussion-like symptoms a day earlier in the Pirates' win over the Rockies, Davis was cleared to begin his rehab assignment last Wednesday. However, after appearing in two games with Altoona, Davis suffered an apparent setback and is now without a clear timeline to resume the assignment. With Joey Bart beating Davis back from the 10-day IL on Sunday, the Pirates may not have room for Davis on the big-league roster once his concussion symptoms subside and he's cleared to return from the 7-day IL.
-
Brian Serven TOR C
Blue Jays' Brian Serven: Back with big club
14h agoThe Blue Jays recalled Serven from Triple-A Buffalo on Monday.
Serven will be the Blue Jays' No. 2 catcher behind Alejandro Kirk while Danny Jansen (personal) is on paternity leave. Serven was hitless in eight at-bats during a brief stint with the big club to begin the season.
-
Danny Jansen TOR C
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Goes on paternity leave
14h agoThe Blue Jays placed Jansen on the paternity list Monday.
Jansen will miss the next 1-to-3 games while welcoming a new baby. Alejandro Kirk should serve as the Blue Jays' primary catcher during that time, and Brian Serven has been recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to handle backup duties.
-
Vladimir Guerrero TOR 1B
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Wasn't available to pinch-hit
6h agoBlue Jays manager John Schneider said that Guerrero (finger) wasn't available to pinch-hit Monday versus the Astros after being a late scratch from the lineup, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Guerrero was initially in Monday's lineup but had to be scratched after he "wasn't comfortable squeezing the bat" pregame, per Schneider. The fourth and fifth fingers on his right hand remain swollen as a result of a hit by pitch in Sunday's game against the Yankees. Guerrero will attempt to swing a bat again Tuesday before it's decided whether he can return to the lineup.
-
Kris Bryant COL 1B
Rockies' Kris Bryant: Throws, hits in cage
6h agoBryant (oblique) did some throwing and hit in the batting cage Monday, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.
There remains no timetable for Bryant's return to action, but he does appear to be making progress as he works his way back from a left oblique strain. Bryant has already missed nearly a month of action and will require a rehab assignment before being activated.
-
Vladimir Guerrero TOR 1B
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Scratched from lineup
11h agoGuerrero was scratched from the lineup for Monday's game against the Astros due to right fourth/fifth finger discomfort, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Guerrero was hit in the right hand by a pitch in the third inning Sunday's 8-1 loss to the Yankees and was ultimately removed from the contest in the bottom of the eighth. While he was initially slated to play Monday in the series opener versus the Astros, some lingering soreness will ultimately prevent him from doing so. X-rays on the hand returned negative, and Guerrero is considered day-to-day. Ernie Clement will enter the lineup as a replacement for Guerrero, manning third base and batting ninth.
-
Owen Miller MIL 1B
Brewers' Owen Miller: Exits 40-man roster
11h agoThe Brewers designated Miller for assignment Monday.
The 27-year-old has spent most of his time this season in the minors, having slashed just .185/.185/.222 across 27 plate appearances during his time in the majors in 2024. Miller offers some defensive versatility and has flashed at times offensively, so it's possible he draws some interest via trade or waivers.
-
Jonathan Singleton HOU 1B
Astros' Jon Singleton: Receiving third straight start
11h agoSingleton will start at first base and bat fifth in Monday's game against the Blue Jays, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Singleton looks to have indirectly overtaken Joey Loperfido for a regular spot in Houston's typical lineup versus right-handed pitching. Though Mauricio Dubon had been poaching playing time from Singleton at first base, Dubon has now made his last three starts at second base, left field and right field while Singleton has covered first base in each of those contests and Loperfido has been on the bench. Singleton closed June on a high note, going 7-for-16 with a home run, a walk, four RBI and two additional runs over his last five games.
-
Vladimir Guerrero TOR 1B
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Cleared for Canada Day start
13h agoGuerrero (hand) will start at first base and bat third in Monday's game against the Astros.
Guerrero was hit in the right hand by a pitch in the third inning of Sunday's 8-1 loss to the Yankees, but he proceeded to stay in the game until he was lifted for a pinch hitter in the bottom of the eighth. X-rays on Guerrero's hand came back negative, and his removal from the contest might just have been precautionary while the Blue Jays faced a seven-run deficit at the time of his exit. Even with a quick turnaround for Monday's Canada Day game that begins at 3:07 p.m. ET, the Blue Jays evidently felt comfortable enough with Guerrero's health to insert him back in the lineup.
-
Isiah Kiner-Falefa TOR 2B
Blue Jays' Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Undergoes MRI on knee
6h agoKiner-Falefa is awaiting results of an MRI on his left knee, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.
Kiner-Falefa was a late scratch from Monday's lineup against the Astros after feeling something in his knee while stretching pregame. Ernie Clement was in the lineup for the Blue Jays on Monday at third base, where Kiner-Falefa has been seeing most of his playing time. It's possible an update on Kiner-Falefa's status will be available later Monday.
-
Tony Kemp MIN 2B
Tony Kemp: Free agent after opting out
7h agoThe Twins released Kemp on Monday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Kemp had a July 1 opt-out clause in his minor-league contract and decided to exercise it. The utility player slashed .279/.358/.436 with six homers in 46 games with Triple-A St. Paul. He'll now look to latch on in another organization.
-
Luis Garcia WAS 2B
Nationals' Luis Garcia: Sitting against southpaw
8h agoGarcia is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets.
With southpaw David Peterson on the bump for the Mets, the lefty-hitting Garcia will head to the bench in the series opener. Ildemaro Vargas will fill in for Garcia at the keystone.
-
Isiah Kiner-Falefa TOR 2B
Blue Jays' Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Late scratch from lineup Monday
9h agoKiner-Falefa was scratched from the lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Astros due to a left knee injury, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Kiner-Falefa played the full nine innings in Sunday's 8-1 loss to the Yankees and wasn't known to be dealing with any sort of injury leading up to Monday's 3:07 p.m. ET opening pitch, so he may have hurt his knee at some point during pregame warmups. The Blue Jays will likely shed more light on Kiner-Falefa's situation later Monday. Kevin Kiermaier was a late addition to the Toronto lineup as a replacement for Kiner-Falefa, who saw his 13-game hit streak come to an end with an 0-for-4 showing Sunday.
-
Brandon Drury LAA 2B
Angels' Brandon Drury: Returns off bench Sunday
11h agoDrury (illness) went 0-for-2 with a strikeout in a loss to Detroit on Sunday.
Drury sat out nine straight games due to an illness before returning to action Sunday. He didn't start but entered as a pinch hitter in the sixth inning and remained in the contest for another at-bat as the team's DH. Per Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com, Drury is expected to return to the starting lineup Tuesday against the Athletics.
-
Jorge Polanco SEA 2B
Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Contributes RBI, steal in loss
12h agoPolanco went 1-for-4 with an RBI single and a stolen base in a loss to the Twins on Sunday.
Polanco came through with a clutch knock against his former team in the seventh inning, plating Luke Raley to knot the score at 3-3. The veteran infielder, who's now hit safely in four straight, also added his second steal of the campaign, but he couldn't capitalize on another RBI opportunity in the ninth when he left the bases loaded on a game-ending flyout.
-
Joseph Ortiz MIL 3B
Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Returns to Milwaukee lineup
6h agoOrtiz (neck) will start at third base and bat leadoff in Monday's game in Colorado.
Ortiz has been absent from the Brewers' lineup for the previous three contests due to neck discomfort, but he's been cleared to return for the start of a road trip. The 25-year-old returns to a .275/.380/.455 batting line.
-
Ernie Clement TOR 3B
Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Late entrant into lineup
11h agoClement will start at third base and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Astros.
Clement wasn't in the Blue Jays' initial lineup, but he'll get his third straight start after he was a late addition in place of Vladimir Guerrero (finger), who was scratched. Guerrero is considered day-to-day, and once he's able to rejoin the lineup, Clement will likely return to his usual bench role.
-
Enrique Hernandez LAD 3B
Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Tallies three hits in loss
12h agoHernandez went 3-for-4 with a double and a run Sunday in a loss to San Francisco.
Hernandez accounted for three of the Dodgers' eight hits in the contest as he recorded his first multi-hit performance since May 29. The utility man has remained an inconsistent part of the team's lineup despite injuries to Max Muncy (oblique) and Mookie Betts (wrist). Hernandez has started just three of the Dodgers' past seven games, and he carries a mediocre .208/.274/.312 slash line along with four homers and 12 RBI over 190 plate appearances on the campaign.
-
Josh H. Smith TEX 3B
Rangers' Josh Smith: Fills in at shortstop
16h agoSmith started at shortstop and went 2-for-5 with an RBI in Sunday's 11-2 win over Baltimore.
Smith got the start at shortstop with Corey Seager (wrist) day-to-day. Seager was hit by a pitch during Saturday's game and, although X-rays came back negative, took a seat for the series finale against the Orioles. The Rangers are off Monday, giving Seager another 24 hours of healing, before a three-game set against the Padres. Once Seager is deemed healthy enough to return to shortstop, Smith will head back to third base, where he will continue to fill in for the injured Josh Jung (wrist), who may be back in the lineup soon, though the team is still evaluating him.
-
Jeimer Candelario CIN 3B
Reds' Jeimer Candelario: Returns as DH
17h agoCandelario started at designated hitter and went 0-for-3 with a walk in Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Cardinals.
Candelario sat out four consecutive games due to a hamstring injury before returning Sunday. Once he's ready to play the field, it won't be as the club's primary third baseman. While Candelario was out, Noelvi Marte was reinstated from a suspension and became the regular starter at third base. That means Candelario will move to either DH or first base.
-
Alex Bregman HOU 3B
Astros' Alex Bregman: Scores twice Sunday
22h agoBregman went 1-for-5 with a double and two runs scored Sunday against the Mets.
Bregman led off the fourth inning with a double and came around to score, accounting for most of his production. Though his season-long numbers remain fairly unimpressive, Bregman did have a productive June by hitting .310 with two homers, 11 RBI and 19 runs scored in 25 games.
-
Corey Seager TEX SS
Rangers' Corey Seager: MRI comes back negative
7h agoAn MRI on Seager's left wrist has come back negative, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
X-rays had also previously came back clean, so Seager's return to the Rangers' lineup will be determined by how much discomfort and swelling he's dealing with. The shortstop was injured when he was struck by a pitch Saturday in Baltimore and didn't play Sunday's game, but he has managed to avoid a serious injury and should be considered day-to-day. Texas has a team off day Monday before starting a series at home against the Padres on Tuesday.
-
J.P. Crawford SEA SS
Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Productive in Sunday's loss
11h agoCrawford went 1-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base in a loss to to the Twins on Sunday.
Crawford reached safely for the 10th straight game with his single, pushing his average to a solid .263 over that span. The stolen base was Crawford's fourth of the season, his highest total since the 2020 campaign. While the veteran shortstop's current stretch of hitting is easily his most productive of the season, Crawford is still sitting on a .215 average and .674 OPS across 61 games.
-
C.J. Abrams WAS SS
Nationals' CJ Abrams: Swipes 14th bag
12h agoAbrams went 1-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Rays.
The Nationals had only three hits on the afternoon, so while Abrams was busy on the basepaths, his efforts couldn't generate any offense. The 23-year-old shortstop had been slumping heading into June, but he wrapped up the month with a dazzling .373/.464/.663 slash line in 97 plate appearances, adding four of his 13 homers on the season and six of his 14 steals.
-
Zachary Neto LAA SS
Angels' Zach Neto: Knocks three-run blast
15h agoNeto went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer in Sunday's loss to Detroit.
Neto's home run was part of the Angels' five-run ninth inning, but the comeback attempt fell just short. It was his 11th long ball of the year and snapped a 10-game homerless drought. Neto posted a .780 OPS in June, bumping his season slash line to .249/.301/.437 with 30 extra-base hits and 38 RBI through 300 plate appearances.
-
Blaze Alexander ARI SS
Diamondbacks' Blaze Alexander: Delivers in pinch
17h agoAlexander entered Sunday's game as a pinch hitter and went 1-for-1 with two RBI in a 5-1 win over the Athletics.
The score was tied when manager Torey Lovullo had Alexander, who was 0-for-8 during the series and 0-for-9 on the homestand, pinch hit for Joc Pederson with the bases loaded. The A's countered with righty reliever Austin Adams, a former Diamondback with whom Lovullo is familiar, and Alexander delivered a single through a drawn-in infield to give Arizona the lead. Alexander has scuffled of late, going 3-for-33 (.091) with zero RBI over the last 12 games and is down to .259 for the season.
-
Bobby Witt KC SS
Royals' Bobby Witt: Three-hit effort in win
22h agoWitt went 3-for-4 with a triple, one RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Guardians.
Witt had gone 10 games without a multi-hit effort before Sunday's performance. The shortstop closed the month 33-for-108 (.306) with 12 extra-base hits, 12 RBI, 14 runs scored and six stolen bases over 27 contests. Through 86 games this year, Witt is slashing .312/.363/.534 with 12 home runs, 22 stolen bases, 54 RBI, 65 runs, 22 doubles and nine triples. He's made modest gains in plate discipline with a 7.3 percent walk rate (up from 5.9 percent last year) and 16.7 percent strikeout rate (down from 17.4 percent) to sustain his elite production.

James Wood WAS LF
Nationals' James Wood: Collects first hit in debut
2h agoWood went 1-for-4 with a walk in Monday's 9-7 loss to the Mets.
The 21-year-old recorded a hit in his first major-league plate appearance, knocking a single to left off David Peterson. Wood later worked a five-pitch walk in the 10th inning. After slashing .353/.463/.595 in 231 plate appearances at Triple-A, the Washington outfielder appears set to play every day in left field for the Nationals. Wood has all the tools to be a fantasy star, as he reached double-digits in both homers and steals -- 10 apiece -- with 37 RBI and 44 runs scored in 52 games with Rochester before his call-up.
-
Carlos Rodriguez MIL LF
Brewers' Carlos D. Rodriguez: Producing for Biloxi
5h agoRodriguez has posted a .301/.384/.362 slash line through 229 at-bats for Double-A Biloxi this season.
Given that Rodriguez is 23 years old, isn't a top prospect, and has yet to homer this season or more than three times in any of his minor-league campaigns, it seems like a stretch that he'd have any meaningful time with the Brewers this season, plus the major-league squad already has a crowded outfield to boot. However, Rodriguez does hold a .294 average over six minor-league seasons, so he could get a look at some point, or perhaps be included as a minor trade chip should the Brewers hit the gas pedal on a playoff push and require more experienced talent.
-
Sal Frelick MIL RF
Brewers' Sal Frelick: Reps at third base not ruled out
5h agoBrewers manager Pat Murphy said Monday that using Frelick at third base is a possibility following the return of Garrett Mitchell, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Frelick had been in line for regular reps at the hot corner before Mitchell was hurt late in spring training. However, with Joey Ortiz having since established himself at third base, it sounds like Frelick seeing action there won't be a priority. Frelick has played four innings at third base this season, which is the first time he's been used there in pro ball.
-
Garrett Mitchell MIL CF
Brewers' Garrett Mitchell: Not in lineup versus southpaw
6h agoMitchell is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest in Colorado.
Mitchell was activated from the 60-day injured list earlier Monday but will begin his first game back on the bench. It's not a surprise, as the Rockies are starting lefty Austin Gomber, and most of the playing time for the left-handed hitting Mitchell figures to come versus righties.
-
Sal Frelick MIL RF
Brewers' Sal Frelick: Out against left-hander
6h agoFrelick is not in the lineup for Monday's game in Colorado.
With the Rockies sending southpaw Austin Gomber to the hill, the left-handed hitting Sal Frelick will take a seat. Christian Yelich, Blake Perkins and Jackson Chourio will be the Brewers' outfield trio.
-
Austin Gomber COL SP

David Peterson NYM SP
Mets' David Peterson: Quality start in no-decision
1h agoPeterson did not factor into the decision in Monday's 9-7 win versus Washington, allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk over 6.1 innings. He struck out two.
The New York southpaw scattered seven singles en route to his third quality start of 2024. After issuing eight free passes across 10.1 innings in his previous two outings, Peterson was much sharper in this appearance, walking fewer than two for just the second time this season in six starts. The 28-year-old now sports a 3.51 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 22:14 K:BB in 33.1 overall innings. He is currently slated to make his next start against the Pirates in Pittsburgh this weekend.
-
MacKenzie Gore WAS SP
Nationals' MacKenzie Gore: Fans eight in no-decision
2h agoGore did not factor into the decision in Monday's 9-7 loss to the Mets, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out eight.
The Washington southpaw created an incredible 21 whiffs to collect his eight punchouts. This was a bounce back performance for Gore as he struggled in five June starts with a 5.13 ERA across 26.1 innings. The 25-year-old's season ERA now stands at 3.47 with 107:29 K:BB over 90.2 innings. He is tentatively scheduled to make his next outing against the Cardinals at home this weekend.
-
Ky Bush LAA SP
White Sox's Ky Bush: Headed to Triple-A
4h agoBush was promoted to Triple-A Charlotte on Monday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Bush will move up a level in the White Sox minor-league system after he produced a 2.12 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with 78 strikeouts over 80.2 innings in 14 starts with Double-A Birmingham this season. With Chicago completely out of the postseason picture and expected to be sellers at the trade deadline, it's possible that Bush could find his way to the major-league roster down the road if he impresses at the Triple-A level.
-
Hunter Brown HOU SP
Astros' Hunter Brown: Goes six scoreless for sixth win
6h agoBrown (6-5) earned the win Monday against Toronto, allowing two hits and three walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out five.
The Houston right-hander continued his torrid hot streak, tossing an eighth consecutive quality start. Over those eight outings, Brown has gone 5-1 with a 1.29 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 53:14 K:BB across 49 innings. Despite sporting a 9.78 ERA after his first 23 innings, the 25-year-old has now lowered his overall ERA to 4.07 in 86.1 total innings. Brown is currently scheduled to make his next start against the Twins in Minnesota this weekend.

Yariel Rodriguez TOR SP
Blue Jays' Yariel Rodriguez: Earns first quality start in loss
6h agoRodriguez (0-3) took the loss Monday versus Houston, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out six.
The 27-year-old rookie pocketed his first career quality start in his longest outing of the season. Rodriguez generated 13 whiffs out of his 83 pitches to produce six punchouts. The Toronto right-hander's ERA now stands at 4.63 across 23.1 innings with 23:13 K:BB. With this performance, Rodriguez is likely to draw another start over Bowden Francis. He currently lines up to make his next appearance against Seattle on the road this weekend.

Reed Garrett NYM RP
Mets' Reed Garrett: Secures fourth save
1h agoGarrett earned the save in Monday's 9-7 win over the Nationals. He faced two batters, allowing one hit and striking out one.
With Edwin Diaz still out due to suspension, Garrett entered with a three-run lead and two outs in the tenth inning. The previous reliever, Tyler Jay, left runners on first and second to clean up. After allowing a run-scoring single to Keibert Ruiz, Garrett punched out Luis Garcia to bring New York back to .500. Diaz is eligible to return from suspension July 6, but until that time, Garrett looks to be the favorite for saves in the Mets' bullpen.

The Houston southpaw entered the ninth with a three-run lead and fired 13 pitches to lock up his 178th career save. Zack Thompson STL RP
Cardinals' Zack Thompson: Lands on Triple-A IL
7h agoTriple-A Memphis placed Thompson on its 7-day injured list Monday with an unspecified injury.
Since the Cardinals sent him back to Triple-A in late April, Thompson has filled a spot in the Memphis rotation, compiling a 4.17 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 54:35 K:BB in 45.1 innings. Though finding strike zone has been a consistent problem for Thompson throughout his professional career, an injury could be at the root of why he was more wild than usual in his most recent Triple-A start Friday, when he walked six batters over three innings. Thompson is without a clear timeline for a return from the IL.

He's now reached safely in 13 consecutive games to close out June and is slashing .285/.347/.461 with 10 homers, 34 RBI, 31 runs and a 22:25 BB:K in 251 plate appearances this season.

Justyn-Henry Malloy DET DH
Tigers' Justyn-Henry Malloy: Leads charge Sunday
1d agoMalloy went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Angels.
Malloy's blast in the fourth inning, his third of the season, extended the Detroit lead to 4-0. The rookie has gotten off to a sluggish start in the majors, as he's still batting only .175 with a 38 percent strikeout rate after Sunday. Despite the struggles, Malloy has good power potential, and his prospect pedigree suggests that he'll figure it out at some point. However, fantasy managers may have to remain patient in the short term.
